Our Horses
We take great care in selecting and training each horse to ensure they are the perfect match for our clients’ unique therapeutic needs. Each horse in our program is chosen for its temperament, movement, and ability to provide a safe, supportive, and effective therapy experience. Our horses are more than just participants—they are trusted partners in the healing journey, helping clients gain strength, balance, and confidence.
Every horse has its own story, personality, and specialized role in our program. From providing steady support for physical therapy to fostering emotional connections that inspire progress, our equine partners play a vital role in transforming lives. Take a moment to meet our amazing therapy horses and learn more about how each one contributes to our mission of healing and empowerment.
"Biscuit"
I’ve been part of the Bit by bit herd since June 2024. Before joining the herd, I lived in Southwest Ranches, where I spent a lot of time out on the trails. I’m pretty comfortable with all sorts of adventures, whether it’s a quiet ride or one that’s a little more exciting.
I’ve got a calm and friendly attitude, which makes me a great match for Bit by bit. I get along with everyone—whether it’s kids, adults, or veterans. Patience is one of my strong suits, and I take my time making sure everyone feels comfortable and confident. There’s something really rewarding about being part of the work here—helping people feel at ease and building trust.

I joined the Bit by bit herd in December 2019. I’m an Andalusian, known for being a strong, graceful, and willing partner. I’m proud to be part of this wonderful hippotherapy program, where I help people find healing and strength through the special connection we share during our sessions.
I was donated to the program because of a rare genetic condition. While it has made my journey a little different from others, it hasn’t stopped me from being the best horse I can be.

I became part of the Bit by bit herd in November 2023, but my journey started long before that. I came from a place called ERAF (Equine Rescue Adoption Foundation), where I was given a second chance after being rescued from neglect. They helped me heal both physically and emotionally, and that’s where I received my training through the Begin Again program, which focuses on teaching horses like me how to become great therapy partners.
I’ve settled into my new role here at Bit by bit, and I’m loving it. Every day, I help kids build their strength and confidence through riding. One of my favorite things is working with those who need a little extra encouragement. I’m patient, and I know how to take things slow when they need me to. Watching kids grow stronger and more confident on my back is one of the best feelings!

I’ve been part of the Bit by bit family for over 15 years. I first joined the herd in 2009, coming from a quiet backyard before finding my true purpose here. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with thousands of children with special needs, helping them learn, grow, and discover the world from horseback. For some, I was their very first ride, and I’ve always strived to be a patient and steady companion.
Now, as I enter my golden years, I’m grateful to spend my time in the lush, peaceful paddocks here at Bit by bit, surrounded by the wonderful people and horses who make this place so special to me. It’s been a beautiful ride, and I’m proud to have played a part in so many lives!

I’ve been part of the Bit by bit team since January 2024. Before coming here, I lived at a local barn where my best friends were a donkey and a goat. It was a bit quiet—just the three of us hanging out—so joining a herd of horses here has been such a treat!
When my owner needed to find me a new home, Peaceful Ridge Rescue stepped in to help. They thought I’d make a great therapy horse and introduced me to Bit by bit. One of my favorite things to do during the day is stick my head out the stall window. I love watching the volunteers and staff as they go about their work. I’m a good horse—always happy to observe and make sure everything is running smoothly

I’ve been part of the Bit by bit family since July 2023. Before coming here, I was a "backyard" pony. While I had some good basic skills, I still had a lot to learn to become the best partner I could be for all the amazing people I work with in the hippotherapy program.
I may be on the shorter side, but don’t let that fool you—I’m strong and stocky, making me the perfect size for a wide variety of clients. I love that my build allows me to help people of all sizes and abilities. Every day is a new adventure, and I’m proud to be part of this incredible team here at Bit by bit. I’m looking forward to many more sessions ahead!

"Libby & Murphy"
We’re a package deal—always together and inseparable. We were brought here from a barn in Southwest Florida in August 2024, and let me tell you, we’ve learned our roles quickly.
We have become quite the experts at taking care of the kids who ride us, making sure they feel safe, supported, and maybe even a little bit special. We’re not just helping them physically, but emotionally and mentally, too. It’s something we really take to heart.
When we arrived, our friend Gypsy was here, too, and because we were such a good fit for the program, Gypsy was able to gradually step back from sessions and retire. She earned it, for sure, but we still enjoy our days off grazing with her. It’s been a beautiful experience being part of this team, and I’m so proud of the work we do. The bond between us makes it even more special. We’re the best team!

I’ve been part of the Bit by bit family for longer than I can remember. Although I’m currently retired, I’m still happy to help with a lesson or two every now and then. I’m the kind of horse you can always count on, and I’ve spent many years helping people feel comfortable in the saddle—especially those who are just starting out or need a little extra support.
Even in retirement, I still enjoy getting out for a ride every now and then. I’m the perfect first horse for riders who are just beginning or need someone gentle and steady.

"Country Music"
Retiree
I was one of the first horses to join the Bit by bit program back in 2003. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for many children with various disabilities, including cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, and developmental delays. I’ve even heard several kids say their first words while riding me, and my rhythmic gait has helped many improve in different areas of their development.
I worked with Bit by bit for 18 years, providing over 16,000 hours of therapy to children with special needs in South Florida! After consulting with my veterinarian and trainers, it was decided that I should join Hank in retirement in 2022.

Retiree
I spent nearly 10 years at Bit by bit, partnering with therapists to provide close to 8,000 hours of therapy. My journey began in 2013 when Peaceful Ridge Rescue saved me from slaughter and brought me to Bit by bit. Though I needed conditioning, they saw my patience and bravery as ideal for therapy work and helped me regain my strength with proper care.
With my steady personality and large build, I was trained for the “tandem hippotherapy” program, safely carrying both a therapist and a child. Known as Hank the Tank, I was loved for staying calm with children on tough days and supporting veterans regaining balance after injuries.
I also earned a reputation as the “class clown” for making people laugh and was featured in Horse and Rider Magazine in 2014 for my incredible journey. After a fulfilling career, I retired in July 2022 alongside my friend Country Music.

"Chubbie"
In Loving Memory
Chubbie was always our “rock star!” With his strong build and broad back, he worked with children of all abilities and faced every situation fearlessly. He could easily carry individuals with severe disabilities, making it easier for therapists to support their clients effectively.
For over 15 years, Chubbie was an essential part of Bit by bit, helping thousands of children. He was deeply loved, and his memory continues to live on in the heart of Bit by bit.
